Job description


Plans, organizes, and manages Exchange telecommunications and networks to support the IT infrastructure management function. The tasks associated with this work may include but are not limited to ensuring the daily production workload is met, provides network design, engineering, implementation, and operations supports of networks established to delivered worldwide telecommunications, monitors the networks, reviewing daily logs and reports for defects to achieve optimum performance, reviewing and establishing procedures to support telecommunications and network workload. Provides the analysis and or design for supporting telecommunications and networks resulting from new projects. Ensures internal controls are adhered to in relation to audit, security, systems and data integrity, confidentiality, and availability. Plans/evaluates/implements the delivery and improvement of services, staffing and resources. Consults with software/hardware vendors and other establishment workers to solve problems impeding network processing. Provides level 5, or subject matter expert, support in identifying and troubleshooting issues for the AAFES telecommunications and network computing environment. May develop budget and expenditures for the department. Provides project leadership for new initiatives, devises improvements to current policies and procedures. Prepares and presents status reports to senior IT management. Coaches and manages staff. Uses proficient knowledge to manage the tasks and events associated with this process. Safeguards physical access to Exchange restricted data, processes and services.

Technical (Preferred/Required Skills/Systems):
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management with over 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise networking and technology operations.
  • Extensive experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing large-scale enterprise network environments supporting geographically dispersed locations.
  • Experience leading enterprise infrastructure projects, including deployment of approximately 1,300 Cisco Meraki security appliances and wireless modernization initiatives.
  • Strong background in Cisco routing and switching, Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), wireless networking, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Proven leadership experience directing technical teams and contractors during complex network incidents while ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Experience administering Network Operations processes, including incident management, problem management, request fulfillment, and operational workflows through ServiceNow.
  • Proficient with enterprise monitoring and management platforms including SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, Infoblox, Meraki Dashboard, Net Cloud, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Experience partnering with Cisco engineering teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to improve network performance, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of network security and authentication technologies, including WPA2, EAP-TLS, AAA, RADIUS, and Cisco ISE
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical personnel, developoperational documentation, and improve troubleshooting capabilitiesacross support organizations.
  • Recognized for leadership, project execution, and successful deliveryof enterprise modernization initiatives, including Distribution Centermodernization and automation projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential through nomination to the AAFESLeadership Development Program, with documented strengths intechnical expertise, project leadership, organizational effectiveness,and managing multiple priorities.

Job Qualifications
Six years of experience in planning, implementing and/or troubleshooting telecommunication and network systems. Prior experience with Cisco networking environment required. One year of experience at the pay band 4-2/4-3 level or equivalent industry experience is required.

  • Major Duties
    Supports all network design and implementation for Exchange systems.
    Coordinates with IT-G to implement and maintain PCI environments.
    Works to ensure members maintain appropriate skill sets, attitude, and technical knowledge.
    Plans, acquires, and implements replacement hardware for all production, lab, and disaster recovery systems.
    Monitors sections on-going yearly financial status.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

    24x7 work environment supporting Exchange operations, which requires either shift work, on call, and/or after hours project work and may include holidays, and weekends
