Job description

A top Fortune 50 Financial Institution in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Data Center Technician to provide on-site support within their data center environment. In this role, the Data Center Technician will maintain critical infrastructure availability through hardware support, rack and stack activities, and troubleshooting.
About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 12:00pm to 8:30pm (EST)
  • Setting: Onsite
Responsibilities:
  • Performing network installation and maintenance, including rack & stack, cabling, hardware replacement, and break/fix support
  • Supporting server installation and maintenance, including HDDs, memory, CPUs, RAID batteries, and NICs
  • Executing data center staging, deployment, logistics, and asset management activities
  • Troubleshooting incidents and escalating issues for resolution
  • Installing, testing, and terminating copper and fiber cabling
  • Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive Data Center experience
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Strong experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, protocols, and standards
  • Familiarity with fiber and copper cabling standards
  • Experience with electrical and optical transceivers
  • Understanding of power systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • Technical training in WAN/LAN communications
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience in presenting technical recommendations
  • Knowledge of IT system troubleshooting
