What is a Cisco CCENT?

A Cisco CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) was an entry-level certification offered by Cisco. It validated foundational knowledge and skills required to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch network, including basic network security. The CCENT was typically the first step in Cisco's certification track and a prerequisite for the CCNA certification. However, Cisco retired the CCENT certification in February 2020, and now the CCNA serves as the starting point for Cisco certifications.
