Job description

Overview

CIS Mobile is looking for a Senior Android Platform Developer to join our team. With a primary focus on our altOS Platform mobile device operating system, the successful candidate will work with us to create, customize, and monitor security-hardened software on mobile devices.

The Senior Android Platform Developer will collaborate with server developers, application developers, engineers, and other technical teams to develop and extend our secure Android platform.

Responsibilities
  • Support and extend altOS, our custom Android distribution designed with security and privacy front of mind.
  • Design and build advanced Android applications that provide features and extensions to the base operating system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Perform product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta projects on a custom Android ROM/distribution.
  • Work with the Application and Server teams to develop unique OS and Android framework features not possible in standard Android applications.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in the field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Android-related product development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience compiling, modifying, and installing/flashing the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
  • Experience with Linux operating system development, or one of its derivatives, including syncing, building, debugging, modifying, and contributing to it.
  • Experience porting Android ROMs to new devices, flashing devices with Android System ROMs, or contributing to open-source aftermarket Android distributions such as LineageOS or Paranoid Android.
  • Experience with the Android SDK and Android Studio.
  • Experience with Git or another source control system.
  • Proficiency in Java, C, and C++.
  • Linux kernel development experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Android platform architecture.
  • Familiarity with Android device management technology, including DevicePolicyManager and MDM APIs.
  • Skills in Bash scripting, Makefiles, and Perl/Python.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • High degree of initiative and creativity, with the ability to suggest new approaches to problems and develop innovative applications.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work cooperatively with personnel across various departments.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

SALARY RANGE: $104,000.00 - $142,000.00 per year
