Job description

Accelerate your learning in underwriting this summer by contributing to work that informs real risk and pricing decisions. As an RULDP Explore intern, you will support underwriting teams as they evaluate risk, set strategic terms, and protect financial performance. You will build practical skills, expand your professional network, and gain exposure to leaders who are invested in your growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support underwriting reviews by organizing case information,identifyingmissing data, and summarizing risk considerations.

  • Use Excel to clean, analyze, and visualize data that informs pricing inputs and portfolio insights.

  • Contribute to a live caseload under guidance by tracking milestones, escalating issues, andmaintainingmomentum.

  • Complete an internship project that improves a process, strengthens a decision framework, or enhances customer outcomes.

  • Communicate progress and findings in a concise, professional way, through written updates, team discussions, and a final presentation

We're seeking curious, driven individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and lead, who are excited to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting to join our RULDP Explore Summer Cohort.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently progressing toward a bachelor's degree and has completed 3 years in a preferred major and/or minor: Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Economics, Finance, Management, Mathematics, or Healthcare.

  • Strong analytical aptitude and comfort applying quantitative reasoning to business situations

  • Comfort working with math and numbers

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain your approach and results

  • Interest in a future career in underwriting and healthcare

PreferredQualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • A problem-solving focuswith a customer-centric mindset

  • Learning agility and a growth mindset, comfortable seeking feedback and making improvements

Additional Information:

  • Start Date: May 24, 2027

  • Market Range: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of $25/hr depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

  • Location: This position is based in one of the following office locations: Bloomfield, CT; Denver, CO; Chattanooga, TN; Franklin, TN; Scottsdale, AZ; or Philadelphia, PA. The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee's choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely. Relocation assistance is not offered, and employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule for their assigned office location.

  • PreEmployment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory preemployment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.

  • Work Authorization:This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B or CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.

  • Timeline: The application window closes mid-October, or once all roles are filled. The recruitment process includes a recruiter phone screen and up to three interview rounds. All interviews will take place virtually over Webex video.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
