Job Summary:


The ultrasound technologist produces ultrasonic images for diagnostic and treatment purposes to be reviewed by physicians. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients for ultrasound examination.
  • Prepares patients for physician.
  • Explains procedures to the patient prior to the commencement of the testing and provides patient education related to medical ultrasound.
  • Explains procedures to assure cooperation and optimum results.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Conducts ultrasonic diagnostic procedures and records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assists physician during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance.
  • Maintains patient charts and records and records and processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to interpreting physician.
  • Code appropriate CPT and ICD10 and submit billing for services performed.
  • Maintains proper operation of the ultrasonic equipment and recognizes malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintains ultrasound rooms for optimum efficiency.
  • Maintains archives/records scans.
  • Reports preliminary findings and diagnosis to Radiologist/Perinatologist.
  • Is aware of the confidential nature of the clinic and works within legal responsibilities and relevant guidelines for good practice.
  • Uses automated computer system to access patient/client information.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) 
  • Registered in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Abdomen registration required within one year of employment
  • RVT (vascular) registration required within one year of employment.
  • Nuchal Translucency sonography (NTQR) registration required within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year work experience
