A day in the role

You’ll begin by aligning with your engineering mechanics crew—priorities set, safety first. From there, your day balances proactive planning and hands-on leadership:

  • Guide and support the engineering mechanics team to sustain a safe, reliable, and efficient production floor.
  • Direct equipment installation, maintenance, and repair to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
  • Apply and refine process improvements that lift product quality, reduce waste, and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Partner closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and R&D to troubleshoot complex issues and resolve them quickly.
  • Build and run a robust preventive maintenance program across critical machinery and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements covering food safety, equipment standards, and environmental obligations.
  • Oversee capital initiatives—from scoping and planning through execution—for equipment upgrades, process changes, and system enhancements.
  • Coach, train, and mentor mechanics and plant staff to elevate technical capability across the site.
  • Track maintenance and engineering budgets, delivering cost-effective solutions for improvements and upgrades.
  • Champion automation, data analysis, and lean manufacturing to advance our production capabilities.
  • Assess and recommend technologies and practices that boost operational performance and product quality.
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on technical background considered.
  • 5+ years in engineering, maintenance, or mechanic supervision within food manufacturing or a comparable industrial environment.
  • Deep understanding of food production processes, equipment, and food safety regulations.
  • History of successfully leading maintenance or engineering mechanic teams and managing technical projects.
  • Expertise in process optimization, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong grasp of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems in manufacturing settings.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills with a practical, fast-paced problem-solving approach.
  • Clear communicator able to collaborate at all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with engineering design tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is a plus.
  • Proven project management with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with sustainability practices and enthusiasm for advancements in the food industry.
