Danbury High School is seeking a motivated and student-centered individual to serve as the Freshman Boys Soccer Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive, educational, and competitive athletic experience for student-athletes while supporting the mission and values of Danbury Public Schools and the DHS Athletic Department.
Position Overview
The Freshman Boys Soccer Coach will oversee all aspects of the freshman boys soccer program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, communication with families, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. The coach will work collaboratively with the varsity and junior varsity coaching staff to support the overall development and success of the girls soccer program.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all team practices, games, and related activities
  • Teach fundamental soccer skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and appropriate athletic behavior
  • Promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of student-athletes
  • Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents/guardians, athletic staff, and school administration
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, travel, and team events
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with school, district, CIAC, and team rules and expectations
  • Assist with uniform and equipment inventory and care
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and athletic department events
  • Support and model positive behavior, professionalism, and good sportsmanship at all times
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to develop and maintain program consistency across all levels

Qualifications
  • Must possess Connecticut Teaching Certification with Coaching Permit preferred, or Coaching Certification
  • Must possess valid First Aid and CPR Certificates and Module 15 - Concussion Management
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in soccer preferred
  • Previous coaching experience working with high school-aged students preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions
  • 180 hours
  • $17.85 per hour
