Job description

Warehouse Associate

The hiring rate for this position is $19.00 per hour. Position Summary

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for assembling food orders for kitchen-classrooms, restaurants, and campus life events. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for picking orders quickly and accurately and contributes to a team effort in maintaining inventory, ensuring quality products, keeping storeroom areas tidy, and providing customer service to students and faculty.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Fill daily and supplemental orders as required, ensuring that all perishable products issued are available for sale.
  • Stage all kitchen orders properly and on time, assisting class stewards with order pick up.
  • Verify that quality standards are met on all issued and received products.
  • Properly receive and rotate stocks from the kitchens.
  • Assist in the receipt and storage of all deliveries as demand requires.
  • Assist in deliveries to the Student Recreation Center (SRC), restaurants, or any other on campus location, as required.
  • Greet and assist all customers in a courteous professional manner and provide proficient and proactive customer service.
  • Maintain knowledge of all product lines within the warehouse.
  • Complete all designated cleaning assignments and work to ensure the general safety and sanitation of the facility.
  • Assist in any routine daily and monthly inventories as required.
  • Assist in the Meat room or Central Issue storerooms as demand requires.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience working in a food service environment, warehouse or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Business, Hospitality or another related field or a graduate from an accredited culinary school.
  • Prior experience with Food, Beverage and Non-Food purchasing and/or distribution.
  • Purchasing/inventory system experience with EATEC or similar system.
  • Familiarity with procedures to receive packages through 'Track It' System, when needed.
  • Valid ServSafe Food handler certificate.
  • Proven experience working as part of a team, providing excellent customer service.
  • Background in restaurant or other food service operations, retail, and/or warehousing.
Required Skills
  • Computer experience, which must include ability to work effectively with inventory systems and MS Office suite products, i.e. Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to show a high level of service responsiveness to internal customers.
  • Ability to use and exemplify strong judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability and desire to learn to identify and evaluate many perishable and international foodstuffs.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.

Working Conditions
  • Must be available to work overtime on nights and weekends, as required by business needs.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a hectic, often crowded warehouse environment.
  • Ability to withstand high ambient outdoor temperatures while working at the loading dock and refrigerated and freezer areas.
