Job Description: Part-Time Director of Worship

Almaden Neighborhood Church – San Jose, CA

Hours: 15-20 hours/week

Reports to: Lead Pastor


Position Summary:

Almaden Neighborhood Church is seeking a Christ-centered, Spirit-led Part-Time Director of Worship who will lead and develop a multi-team worship ministry. This person will be a leader of leaders and responsible for coordinating, discipling, and investing in worship leaders, musicians, and audio/visual volunteers to lead our church in heartfelt, God-glorifying worship. They will be a leader of leaders who will empower and equip the teams to authentically worship God and lead the congregation with musical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship Leadership & Planning

  • Lead Sunday morning worship on a regular basis including appropriate scriptures and prayers as led by the Spirit.
  • When not personally leading, work with worship team leaders to support them and provide consistent quality across weeks.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to plan weekly worship services that reflect the theme and Scripture of the sermon.
  • Curate song selections consistent with ANC’s theology and culture.
  • Be available to lead times of worship for additional events and services.

Team Coordination & Development

  • Recruit, train, and schedule multiple worship teams (musicians and vocalists).
  • Oversee and develop the audio/visual teams, including sound and livestream volunteers.
  • Schedule and oversee regular rehearsals and trainings.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and quarterly ministry team meetings to coordinate and collaborate with other church ministries.

Spiritual Discipleship & Culture Building

  • Cultivate a culture of humility, excellence, and servanthood in the worship ministry.
  • Provide spiritual encouragement and discipleship to team members.
  • Create regular opportunities for team gatherings, prayer, and community.

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee the technical audio and visual aspects of worship services including sound, slides, livestream, podcast and other elements.
  • Stay up to date and receive training to optimize our systems and train teams in the best implementations.
  • Provide troubleshooting help for teams regarding instruments, sound equipment and livestream.

Qualifications:

  • A passionate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with the Christian and Missionary Alliance statement of faith. Licensed or willing to be licensed with the C&MA.
  • Agreement with the mission and values of Almaden Neighborhood Church. Member or willing to be a member of ANC.
  • Experience in leading volunteer teams in a church or ministry setting.
  • Strong communication and relational skills. Able to handle conflict in a biblical manner.
  • Ability to work in cross-cultural settings.
  • Strong musical and worship-leading ability (vocals and/or instrument). Ability to read and transpose music preferred.
  • Basic understanding of sound/livestream technology.
  • Some formal training in worship ministry, theology or leadership.
