Job Description

The Receiver is responsible for managing inventory, ensuring quality control, and handling the receipt and shipment of products. This part-time position reports to the Bookstore Director and is scheduled to work 15-20 hours per week on average, primarily on weekdays. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Responsibilities

  • Accurately track and manage incoming and outgoing product shipments.
  • Monitor and manage the Bookstore email account, addressing outstanding items and invoices.
  • Inspect shipments for damage and ensure all items are in good condition.
  • Collaborate with the Bookstore Director, Merchandise Manager, Senior Buyer, and Operations Manager on invoice and vendor-related issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized receiving room and manage supply needs.
  • Unpack, sort, and reconcile incoming shipments, ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Process returns and report damages, overages, or shortages to vendors, following up as needed.
  • Document shortages and damages for refund processing.
  • Create Purchase Orders using Shopify/Stocky.
  • Understand and apply bookstore policies to ensure smooth operations.
  • Submit POs and invoices to the Operations Manager for timely vendor payments.
  • Accurately categorize and price products for the sales floor.
  • Assist with annual inventory tasks.
Qualifications
  • Shopify knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in receiving or inventory management is a plus.
  • Intermediate computer skills and basic math proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping in a stockroom environment.
  • Occasional ladders usage to reach high storage shelves.
