Grogan's Towne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, one of the Toledo area's largest automotive dealers, has an immediate opening for an Auto Detailer.
Used Car Detailer
Position Title: Used Car Detailer
Department: Used Vehicle Operations
Reports To: Used Car Manager / Reconditioning Manager
Position Summary
The Used Car Detailer is responsible for preparing pre-owned vehicles to meet dealership appearance and quality standards. This role ensures every used vehicle is clean, professionally presented, and ready for retail sale, while maintaining efficiency, safety, and attention to detail. The Detailer plays a key role in creating an outstanding first impression for customers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly wash, dry, clay bar, polish, wax, and buff used vehicles as needed.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, clean upholstery, leather, vinyl, glass, and interior surfaces.
  • Remove stains, odors, pet hair, and other contaminants to restore vehicles to retail-ready condition.
  • Clean engines, door jambs, wheels, wheel wells, and tires.
  • Apply tire dressing and protective coatings where appropriate.
  • Inspect vehicles for cosmetic imperfections and report damage or needed repairs to management.
  • Install dealer decals, license plate brackets, window stickers, and required inventory tags.
  • Move vehicles safely throughout the dealership and maintain organized inventory parking.
  • Maintain detailing equipment and ensure chemicals and supplies are used safely and efficiently.
  • Keep the detailing area clean, organized, and OSHA compliant.
  • Meet daily production goals while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
  • Assist with new vehicle detailing, customer delivery preparation, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions preferred.
  • Previous automotive detailing experience preferred but willing to train motivated candidates.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate pressure washers, buffers, vacuums, and other detailing equipment.
