POSITION: Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor of Christian Studies (Exempt)
COLLEGE/DEPARTMENT: Logsdon School of Theology
SUPERVISOR TITLE: Dean, Logsdon School of Theology
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EXEMPTION: Teacher Exemption
LOCATION: HSU Campus, Abilene, Texas
TARGET HIRE DATE: Initial review ofapplications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.Anticipated start date is January 2027.

SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Primary responsibilities willinclude teaching undergraduate Christian Studies courses, advising students, providingprogram support and engaging in other service responsibilities within theuniversity.
Applicants with a graduate degreein Christian studies including theology, biblical studies, church history, orministry education are asked to submit all required documents listed below. Theteaching load is 12 credit hours each Fall and Spring semester with a 9-monthcontract.

Teach undergraduate Christian Studies classes.
Advise current and prospective students in undergraduateChristian Studies programs and majors.
Collaborate effectively with university faculty, staff, andadministrators, as well as members of the community.
Participate in recruitment activities for the Logsdon Schoolof Theology, as well as Hardin-Simmons University.
Engage in ongoing professional development as well asscholarly work.
Provide service to the university through involvement withcommittees as well as university activities (e.g., commencement).

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read,analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add,subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent andto draw and interpret bar graphs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have a required doctoraldegree from an ATS-accredited seminary or school of theology and extensiveinvolvement in the Baptist tradition.
A minimum of five years' experience teaching at theuniversity level is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is a Full-Time,Exempt Level Faculty Position with a teaching load at the Hardin-SimmonsUniversity campus. Additional travel may be required for studentevaluation/sponsorship and/or professional development. Must be willing torelocate to Abilene, Texas, or the surrounding area to teach in-person classeson the HSU Campus.
Musthave and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear drivingrecord to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Infrequenttravel may be required on occasion to attend training, etc.
