Job description

Job Summary

Under the general supervision the Athletic Director (AD), the Athletic Trainer will support the athletic program through the prevention, recognition, and evaluation of injuries and illnesses. The Athletic Trainer will ensure that all students are instilled with a Biblical worldview and supervised in a safe environment. The Athletic Trainer must have a strong, active, and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, and a calling to serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy.He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and completing all tasks with excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Athletic Trainer Certified credential issued by the NATA BOC
  • CPR and First Aid Certified

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience and/or preparation in an athletic program preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with leadership, peers, faculty, students, parents, volunteers and the external community
  • Demonstrated knowledge of athletics
  • Ability to assess the strengths and needs of students

Technologies

  • Must be skilled at technology and its applications within the school, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Capabilities

  • Able to stand and walk for most of the day; speak and hear clearly; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop and twist; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and moving non-ambulatory students with assistance
  • Able to supervise students both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Able to walk up and down stairs

Work Hours / Travel

Job Functions and Tasks

Essential Functions

  • Treat all students with kindness and respect and continually reinforce and develop their Christian character and their identity in Christ
  • Provides immediate first aid and emergency care for acute injuries
  • Assists in the management of chronic athletic injuries or conditions
  • Creates personalized rehabilitation plans for injured student athletes
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to managing athlete's health and well-being
  • Develops and implements injury prevention programs
  • Maintains regular and accurate records of student's health and medical history
  • Provides instruction on rehabilitation exercises and methods of maintaining body conditioning while injured
  • Demonstrate understanding of how to work with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and safety procedures consistent with established protocols
  • Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public
  • Administer the physical requirements for eligibility to participate in each sport and verify the eligibility of each athlete
  • Facilitate clear communication and timely feedback with students, parents, and coaches to ensure students remain on track with goals and objectives
  • Use assessment tools to inform, guide and evaluate student athletes
