How does a Christian Copywriter balance faith-based messaging with marketing objectives?

A Christian Copywriter skillfully weaves biblical values and positive messaging into copy while also ensuring the content aligns with the client’s marketing strategy and goals. This often involves collaborating closely with ministry leaders, marketing teams, or non-profit stakeholders to understand both the spiritual mission and the brand’s unique voice. One common challenge is maintaining authenticity and scriptural accuracy while crafting compelling calls-to-action that resonate with both faith-based and broader audiences. Regular feedback and open communication with cross-functional teams help ensure the messaging is both effective and true to core Christian principles.

What is the difference between Christian Copywriter vs Content Writer?

Christian Copywriters focus on creating content that aligns with Christian values and faith-based messaging, often working for religious organizations or faith-centered brands. Content Writers have a broader scope, producing content for various industries without necessarily incorporating religious themes. While both roles require strong writing skills, Christian Copywriters often need familiarity with Christian doctrine and terminology, making their role more specialized within faith-based marketing and communication.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Christian Copywriter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Christian Copywriter, you need strong writing and editing skills, a solid understanding of Christian theology, and experience crafting faith-based content. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and digital marketing platforms is typically required. Creativity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity are important soft skills that help engage diverse audiences authentically. These abilities ensure the creation of compelling, mission-aligned content that resonates with readers and supports organizational goals.

Please submit your resume, a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and heart for ministry, and 2-3 examples of email campaigns you have created (screenshots or links are acceptable). Daystar Television Network is an equal opportunity employer.

Must be a Christian committed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Campaign Strategy & Execution: Develop, build, and execute end-to-end email marketing campaigns—including broadcasts, devotional series, fundraising drives, event promotions, and partner updates—from concept to analysis.
  • List Management & Segmentation: Master our audience database to create sophisticated segmentation strategies based on viewer behavior, donation history, content engagement, and demographics to deliver hyper-relevant messaging.
  • Content & Copywriting: Collaborate with ministry and content teams to write, edit, and design engaging email copy and layouts that reflect Daystar’s voice, inspire action, and comply with brand guidelines.
  • Automation & Journey Building: Build and maintain automated email journeys (welcome series, nurture streams, re-engagement campaigns) using marketing automation tools to foster long-term supporter relationships.
  • Testing & Optimization: Conduct rigorous A/B testing on subject lines, content, CTAs, and send times to continually improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversion metrics.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on key email performance metrics (deliverability, engagement, ROI). Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations for strategy refinement.
  • Platform Management: Serve as the day-to-day expert for our email marketing platform (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, etc.), ensuring best practices in list hygiene, template design, and technical execution.
  • Compliance: Ensure all email activities adhere to CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other relevant regulations. Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in email marketing, preferably in a nonprofit, ministry, media, or direct-response environment. Proven track record of managing successful, large-scale email programs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise with a major email marketing platform (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp).
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills for email template customization and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with email list management, segmentation, and marketing automation.
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms (Google Analytics) and integrating email data.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional copywriting and proofreading skills with an ability to write for both spiritual inspiration and direct response.
  • A keen analytical mind with the ability to derive meaning from data and translate it into strategy.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially concerning list management, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Understanding of donor/audience lifecycle marketing principles.
  • Soft Skills: Heart for ministry and alignment with Daystar’s mission. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across departments. Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM or Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), particularly integrating email activity with donor records.
  • Knowledge of Christian media, broadcasting cycles, and faith-based audience engagement.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) for basic email asset creation.
  • Certification in email marketing platforms or digital marketing.
  • What We Offer: Competitive Compensation & Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage; 403(b) with company match

Direct Ministry Impact:

  • Seeing your work directly contributes to growing our ministry and supporting global outreach efforts.
  • Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, mission-driven team dedicated to innovation and excellence.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities to learn, grow, and shape the digital voice of a leading television network.
  • Physical Requirements:
