Job description

The Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and developing the school’s K–8 volleyball program in a Christ-centered environment. The coach will teach fundamental volleyball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and character while creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere for student-athletes. The Volleyball Coach will support the mission and values of the school by modeling Christian leadership both on and off the court.
Hours: This is a zero hour/seasonal position with scheduled hours with an average of 10 scheduled hours per week during volleyball season (with additional hours during tournament weeks) and 0 hours per week during the remaining weeks of the year.

Job Requirements

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate volleyball practices for K–8 students.
  • Teach volleyball fundamentals, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, defense, and game strategy.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and positive character development.
  • Create a safe, encouraging, and Christ-centered team environment.
  • Organize practice schedules, game preparation, and player rotations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school administration, and athletic staff.
  • Ensure proper use, setup, and care of athletic equipment and facilities.
  • Encourage student growth spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically.
  • Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and league regulations.
  • Attend scheduled games, practices, coaches meetings, and school athletic events as required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration, staff, parents, and volunteers.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage elementary and middle school students.
  • Maintain professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times.
  • Ability to supervise students in athletic settings safely and effectively.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and Christian culture of the school.
  • Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends for games or tournaments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Personal commitment to Christian values and faith-based mentorship.
  • Previous experience playing volleyball and/or coaching youth sports.
  • Ability to lead and supervise children in a safe and positive manner.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to fulfill the physical and work requirements of the job. (See attached)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as educational employment history check and reference check.
  • This position does not qualify for sponsorship of work authorization or an employment visa, so candidates must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior coaching experience with elementary or middle school students.
  • Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, drills, and player development.
  • Experience working in a Christian school or ministry environment.
  • Coaching certifications or athletic training experience.
  • Understanding of age-appropriate coaching and child development practices.
