Job description

This position is in our Food Enterprise where we are committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. Our portfolio includes poultry, beef, egg, alternative protein, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa and chocolate.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Process Engineer will apply process and project engineering techniques to assist in the improvement of Starch processes and products. In this role, you will provide technical support, operations experience, continuous improvement techniques and project management skills in a plant support capacity to ensures safe, efficient and low cost plant operations.
Key Accountabilities
  • Review and recommend manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost effective and promote quality and reliability.
  • Assess current manufacturing equipment and processes and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Review key performance indicators and monitoring systems and identify ways to improve the ability to maintain company operations.
  • Conduct tests and measurements throughout the stages of production to identify control over variables such as temperature, density, specific gravity, pressure and viscosity.
  • Assist with project engineering, sizing, design and overseeing contractors and safety.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Work with the Starch Leadership team to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Use data analytics to improve process operations, increase output, and reduce costs.
  • Working with a High Hazard Process and will be involved with PRAs and PSM audits.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with operations data and design programs and applications
  • Six sigma green belt certification or the desire to get a green belt certification
  • Lean certification or the desire to become lean certified
  • Experience and skills leading moderately complex projects
  • Strong data analysis capabilities including continuous improvement experience or certifications
