Job Summary: Diagnoses, prevents, or treats disease based on traditional Chinese medical concepts of treating specific areas of the human body, known as acupuncture points or meridians.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects medical histories and general lifestyle information from patients. Assess patient's general physical appearance to properly treat.
  • Educates patients on topics such as meditation, ergonomics, stretching, exercise, nutrition, the healing process, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
  • Administers treatment through the use of manual, thermal, or electrical stimulation; acupuncture needles and moxibustion.
  • Maintains and follows standard quality, safety, and environmental infection control procedures.
  • Maintains detailed and complete records of health care plans.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
  • Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
