Job description

Company Description

The Brightskull Entertainment Group is a voice-over production company specializing in creating incredible voice-over performances exclusively for video games. We have developed a highly systematized approach to our pipeline and pride ourselves on quality and efficiency. We have excellent clients who have trusted us to work on phenomenal projects including hits like: Marvel Rivals, Bugsnax, Harry Potter Magic Awakened, High on Life, and Alone in the Dark.  We are seeking a talented Dub Script Adaptation Writer to join our creative team.

If you are the person who gets disproportionately upset by bad VO or sloppy dubbing, this is the perfect position for you.

Role Description

We are looking for a full-time Dub Script Adaptation Writer who eats sleeps and breathes dialogue. You will be taking pre-translated scripts (primarily from Mandarin Chinese) and turning them into English dialogue that fits the genre, feels natural, character-driven, and ready to perform.

Youโ€™ll also take on script supervision responsibilities - keeping scripts clean, consistent, and production-ready for recording sessions and client delivery. That side of the job is structured and teachable, strong writing instincts are not.

Key Responsibilities

Writing (Primary Focus)

  • Adapt translated scripts into natural, expressive American English dialogue
  • Hit lipflap/timing constraints without sacrificing natural flow
  • Maintain tone, character voice, and genre authenticity across large volumes of content
  • Revise quickly and thoughtfully based on direction and feedback

Script Supervision

  • Keep track of continuity, naming, and terminology
  • Ingest deliverables into and maintain Excel-based scripts (line IDs, timing, notes)
  • Prep and export Word scripts/PDFs for sessions
  • Review recording sessions and track changes made in-session/flag mistakes
  • Track pickups and implement revisions accurately

  • What We're Looking For

    • You must write excellent dialogue. Thatโ€™s the most important thing.
    • Professional experience writing or adapting dialogue for video games
    • A strong ear for how lines sound out loud, not just how they read on the page
    • Understanding of lip-sync/lipflap constraints
    • Comfortable working in Excel with intermediate level understanding of formulas
    • You must play video games
    • Familiarity with Mandarin Chinese is a huge plus
    • Familiarity with C-Dramas and Chinese Culture (modern & historic) is a huge plus

    Why Join Us?

    • Be part of a small tight-knit team that values craftsmanship, creativity, and collaboration.
    • Work on exciting high-profile projects that push the boundaries of performance in gaming.

    Additional Info

    • Full-time, on-site in Reseda, CA. Remote applicants will not be considered
    • Finalists will complete a short writing test (max 2 hours)
