About the Role
ACI, a trusted leader in commercial HVAC services, is expanding our Chiller Service Group and seeking a skilled HVAC Journeyman / Chiller Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician to work with advanced water- and air-cooled chiller systems-including helical screws and centrifugal equipment-while playing a vital role in mentoring and guiding other mechanics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance (30%)
    • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on water- and air-cooled chillers.
    • Ensure systems run at optimal efficiency while reducing downtime and extending equipment life.

  • Diagnostics, Troubleshooting & Repair (30%)
    • Identify and resolve system issues across chillers, drives, and related equipment.
    • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems.

  • Overhaul & Advanced Service Work (20%)
    • Execute major overhauls on centrifugal and screw chillers.
    • Perform component replacements, retrofits, and upgrades as needed.

  • Technical Leadership & Guidance (10%)
    • Provide direction and mentorship to junior mechanics.
    • Share knowledge to elevate the capabilities of the team.

  • Support Chiller Service Group Growth (10%)
    • Partner with leadership to strengthen service offerings.
    • Contribute technical expertise to expand client relationships.

The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a top-tier technician who brings a mix of technical mastery and leadership.
  • Experience & Credentials
    • 5+ years of experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician specializing in chiller service.
    • Local 602 membership preferred; must be able to work within union guidelines.

  • Technical Expertise
    • Deep experience servicing water- and air-cooled chillers, helical screws, and centrifugal equipment.
    • Strong knowledge of chilled water applications, electrical and pneumatic systems, and VFDs.
    • Skilled in Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Service, Troubleshooting, Repair, and Overhauls.

  • Leadership & Teamwork
    • Able to provide technical guidance to mechanics and collaborate with peers.
    • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, solutions-first mindset.
