Job description

Saber Connection Assistant

Saber Connection Assistant is starting fall of 2026 - 1.5-2.5 hours available before and/or after school at an assigned building site, approximately 175 work days with a variety of hours/day - hours will vary based on site needs Monday through Friday. This position is ideal for someone looking for experience working with children. Position begins August 24, 2026.

The Saber Connection Assistant assists in the implementation and delivery of the Saber Connection program at an assigned building. This position works with preschool and/or kindergarten to grade 5 students in the program, before and/or after school, hours available on non school days at an assigned building. Ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for all participants.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain staff to child ratios required by certification
  • Implement daily activities
  • Assist with before and/or after school set up of the program
  • Collaborate and build positive relationships with schools and district staff
  • Build relationships and support school as needed
  • Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings and required professional development
  • Ensure high quality customer service
  • Works directly with large and small groups of children
  • Ensure children follow established rules and report concerns to Program Coordinator
  • Provide welcoming environment for families in Saber Connection
  • Document incidents or accidents on correct forms
  • Follow district, program and certification policies and procedures
  • Represent Shakopee Public Schools, Community Education and Saber Connection in a positive manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay & Benefits: Pay Rate- $16-$18/hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications: Experience working with children, preferred Minimum age is 16 years old Working Conditions: Lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting, etc. Adapt to the environment of the children. Busy, noisy, shared spaces such as the cafeteria and gym. Must be able to be indoors and outdoors.
