CBG Surveying is seeking a top-tier Survey Crew Chief / Party Chief to join our Houston team. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing a field crew and ensuring the accurate collection of survey data for a variety of projects.

Position Overview

The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for leading a field crew in performing:

  • Boundary and topographic surveys
  • Construction staking, form surveys, and final surveys
  • Building layout and field data collection

This role reports directly to the Survey Field Manager and plays a critical role in delivering high-quality results to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine the most efficient plan of action for field data acquisition
  • Lead and supervise survey crew operations in the field
  • Accurately collect and verify survey data using modern survey equipment
  • Communicate daily with the Field Department Manager regarding project schedules and progress
  • Maintain company vehicles and field equipment
  • Professionally interact with clients, landowners, and stakeholders
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of progressive field surveying experience, including leadership/crew chief experience
  • Strong background in Land Title Surveying
  • Ability to calculate boundaries independently
  • Experience with:
    • Translating and rotating plotted point files
    • Topographic and commercial surveys
  • Proficiency with:
    • Total stations and data collectors
    • Robotic instruments (preferred)
  • CAD experience (a plus)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and technical)
  • Proven work ethic and team-oriented mindset
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
