Job description

The salary range shown represents the minimum to midpoint salary for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on qualifications and experience. The Manager of Emerging Technologies will be responsible for leading FPUA's efforts to modernize operations and exploration and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.

The position focuses on building internal capability, teaching staff, developing practical use cases, and guiding departments through digital transformation. The position will work closely with IT, department leaders, and cross-functional teams to ensure secure, ethical, and effective deployment of AI tools. Due to the collaborative and foundational nature of this role, remote or hybrid work is not available initially.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer. (NOTE: There are also secondary functions which the employee will be required to perform.) Emerging Technology Strategy Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for emerging-technology adoption aligned with organizational goals Identify, evaluate current data environment, and prioritize AI use cases based on feasibility, impact, and readiness. Collaborate with IT and departments to improve data availability, quality, and integration

Establish standards and best practices for secure, maintainable, and scalable technology adoption. Provide clear reports and recommendations to leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities. AI, Automation & Applied Analytics Design and deploy practical AI-enabled workflows, intelligent agents, and automation solutions that support operational goals.

Evaluate business processes across departments to identify opportunities for AI-informed improvements. Develop guidelines and frameworks for responsible AI use, emphasizing transparency, privacy, and bias mitigation. Prepare leadership-level reports summarizing progress, risk, and performance impacts.

Organizational Education & Change Enablement Conduct workshops and training sessions to build staff proficiency in AI fundamentals, prompting, and agent-based systems. Translate complex technical concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences. Support organizational change management related to AI adoption and digital transformation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Vendor Engagement Serve as liaison with vendors, consultants, and external partners to evaluate emerging technology platforms and solutions. Partner with business units to translate insights into actionable process changes. Ensure systems and solutions evolve through continuous learning and adapt to new workflows, policies, and organizational priorities.

Power BI Development & Integration (Secondary Focus) Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that consolidate operational metrics and integrate AI-driven insights. Lead staff learning and adoption of BI tools, creating new BI users across departments. Use Power BI visualizations to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.

Collaborate with IT and department leaders to ensure secure deployment and governance of BI tools. Develop a leadership dashboard prototype that consolidates operational metrics across departments, where appropriate. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, data science, information systems, or other related area of study along with five (5) years of experience in AI/ML implementation, innovation, or digital transformation roles.

Advanced certifications in AI/ML or cloud platforms (Azure AI, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience deploying AI solutions and teaching or enabling non-technical audiences to adopt new tools and technologies. Designing and deploying Power BI dashboards for enterprise environments, including KPI reporting and integration with multiple data sources desired.

When considering new job applicants, a comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted in lieu of some of the minimum qualifications. Must posess: thorough knowledge of generative AI, large language models, and agent frameworks knowledge of process mining, workflow automation, and AI-informed analytics strong interpersonal skills to support organizational change management across departments advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling, and ability to integrate BI dashboards with AI models.
