Activity Coordinator - Maternity Cover

Location: Parkside Care Home, Parkside Road,ReadingRG30 2DP

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until September 2026

Hours: 24 hours per week covering 4 days per week (including some weekends)

Salary: 13.10 - 14.10 per hour depending on experience

CQC rating: Good

The purpose-built home is spacious, bright and airy, with pleasant and well-tended gardens. Being on a leafy street, surrounded by private homes, means the home enjoys a real neighbourhood feel, too.
At Parkside theyput a real focus on making the care person-centred, upholding the resident's dignity, respect and independence. The activity coordinators help make sure there's plenty of fun things for everyone to do.
All bedrooms have ensuite facilities with a 24-hour call system, many with views of the surrounding gardens.
Parkside prides itself on the balanced and nutritious dishes that are served to residents at mealtimes. The meals, which are freshly prepared every day, are suited to each resident's individual food preferences and choices.
Helping residents to recover or retain their independence is especially important here. As part of this, residents are encouraged to make friends and to choose interesting things to do - perhaps even learning something a new skill. Weekly clubs also allow residents to get to know each other and remain active and engaged in hobbies that they are passionate about. Residents also have access to an onsite hairdresser and visiting mobile library.

You'll help us make health happen by:

  • Running morning and afternoon activity sessions.
  • Producing and updating an activity planner for the home, working to a set activities budget
  • Organising birthday surprises for our residents
  • Liaising with external companies and performers from the local community to organise days out/events at the home
  • Organising one to ones with our residents, this might involve reminiscing tools, puzzles, reading or just a cup of tea and a chat
  • Supporting the home with their social media channels as required

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

You're a creative thinker with plenty of ideas, who can also manage budgets and maintain paperwork, effectively managing priorities as they arise. Wanting to make a real difference, you're interested in caring for others, sharing your sense of humour and spreading your infectious enthusiasm for making people's lives better.
