Job description

Chief Engineer
EVEN Hotel Omaha is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Engineer to lead all aspects of hotel maintenance, preventative maintenance, and engineering operations. The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the hotel is maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction while overseeing the maintenance team and managing capital improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and equipment.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and mentor the maintenance team.
  • Ensure the property remains in compliance with all federal, state, local, brand, and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, kitchen, laundry, and life safety systems.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and capital projects.
  • Manage departmental budgets, purchasing, inventory, and expense controls.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and maintain the hotel's appearance and functionality.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs.
  • Work closely with all departments to support daily hotel operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of hotel engineering or facilities management experience, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and capital planning.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with maintenance management systems is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
