The Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides transformative, visionary leadership for all aspects of the College's technology ecosystem. Reporting directly to the VP for Finance and Administration, the CIO is a strategic partner responsible for elevating the College’s digital campus to the next level. This position oversees core infrastructure, hardware, and software platforms, driving institutional efficiency through unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integrations. The CIO owns the architectural integrity of the data center while ensuring seamless cross-platform technology interfaces.

This role offers onsite and/or hybrid arrangements based on candidate qualifications and autonomy.

Core Responsibilities Strategic Vision & Digital Transformation
  • Technology Roadmap: Design and execute a multi-year technology master plan that directly aligns with institutional strategic goals.
  • Emerging Tech Cultivation: Actively research, scout, and pilot modern technology solutions (including AI integrations and automated workflows) to optimize campus operations.
  • ERP Integration: Lead the strategic selection, seamless integration, and maximization of campus-wide ERP software suites to break down institutional data silos.
  • Cross-Platform Interface: Ensure reliable data exchanges and technical interoperability across distinct systems (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Advancement, LMS).
  • Data Center Ownership: Supervise the architecture, security, and uptime of the on-premises or cloud-hosted institutional data center.
  • Hardware & Software Lifecycle: Establish standards and recommendations for campus procurement, technology refreshes, and enterprise hardware configurations.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Develop and enforce comprehensive data security protocols, disaster recovery procedures, and federal privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, GLBA).
Departmental Management & Execution
  • Team Mobilization: Manage, evaluate, and professionally develop IT department staff, steering them toward high-quality, user-centric service delivery.
  • Fiscal Accountability: Formulate and manage the annual IT operational and capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets.
  • Vendor & Contract Strategy: Direct contract negotiations and SLA standards with technology vendors, cloud providers, and third-party developers.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration (MBA), or a closely related executive technical discipline preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with a clear track record of managing enterprise systems within higher education or complex corporate environments.
  • ERP Mastery: Proven experience steering large-scale ERP migrations or comprehensive system-wide software updates.
  • Technical Breadth: Foundational knowledge of network architecture, data center operations, cloud structures, and data warehousing.
Preferred Leadership Characteristics
  • Change Management: Demonstrated ability to rally non-technical staff and faculty behind large-scale digital modifications.
  • Communicator Mindset: Gifted at translating complex technical infrastructure vulnerabilities or cloud solutions into business outcomes for executive boards.
  • Commensurate with experience.
