THE ROLE:

Our client is seeking an experienced Seasonal Meat Cutter to join a well-established meat processing facility in Hamilton, ON.

This is a seasonal opportunity supporting increased production volumes during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter periods. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in meat cutting, butchering, food processing, or meat production and be looking for a flexible seasonal opportunity. The successful candidate will work as part of a production team in a refrigerated environment, preparing and cutting meat products while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, and workplace safety. The primary focus of this position will be trimming bone-in pork products according to customer specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cut, trim, portion, and prepare meat products according to production requirements
  • Trim bone-in pork products to customer specifications
  • Use knives and other meat-cutting tools safely and efficiently
  • Follow product specifications, portion requirements, and production standards
  • Inspect meat products for quality, consistency, and defects
  • Prepare products for packaging and further processing
  • Maintain accurate product weights and portion sizes
  • Follow established production procedures and work instructions
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene requirements
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, and company food safety procedures
  • Properly use required PPE and follow all workplace health and safety procedures
  • Clean and sanitize knives, tools, equipment, and work areas as required
  • Work efficiently to meet daily production targets
  • Communicate quality, equipment, or production concerns to the appropriate supervisor
  • Perform other production duties as required


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous meat cutting, butchering, or meat processing experience is an asset
  • Experience working with pork products, particularly bone-in products, is an asset
  • Comfortable working with chicken, beef, turkey, and pork products
  • Comfortable using knives and performing repetitive meat-cutting tasks
  • Strong knowledge of safe knife handling practices
  • Ability to work in a cold/refrigerated environment
