Flex-O-Glass is a leading plastics manufacturer and third generation family-owned company with over 101 years of business experience. We extrude plastic products, primarily films, but also sheet and profile. Our facility promotes a family friendly atmosphere, broad diversity and welcoming environment to our team. Our company is currently searching for a member to join our Production team as a Production Lead who will work to provide support across our plant. This position will work within a team of other production staff and will be based in our Chicago, IL facility. This role will require candidates to be able to work 12-hour shifts. Day Crew hours are 7am - 7:15pm and Night Crew hours are 7pm - 7:15am. Crews work alternating schedules working 3-days in one week and 4-days following week repeatedly.
Position Responsibilities:
Generally, responsible for running and overseeing a group of machines.
  • Oversees functionality of machines - troubleshoots malfunctions
  • Machine start-ups - prepare blown film through die, tie up to run through winders
  • Reviews work orders to ensure adequate raw material and packaging materials available
  • Supports training of new personnel with shift supervisor
  • Relieves all machine operators for breaks as required.
  • Makes all changeovers (changing product lines), startups, shutdowns and emergency breakdowns on all machines throughout the plant.
  • Performs general die maintenance.
  • Reports all resin quality.
  • Familiar with all resins, silos, and resin handling equipment from silos to hopper.
  • Performs Shift Foreman responsibilities when Foreman is absent.

Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to lift, bend, twist in the performance of setting up, troubleshooting, and taking down machines.
  2. Routine lifting of products ranging from 10-60lbs
  3. Regular use of arms, stretching, extending to perform changeovers
  4. Pulling packaging and supplies for changeovers
  5. Perform quality control testing to ensure product accuracy and minimum specifications are met
  6. Ability to help training, coaching, and developing of new personnel
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with team and members of management
  8. Prior experience in manufacturing with 2-3 years supervisory experience preferred
