Job description

Job Description:

The Technical Interior Designer is responsible for producing drawings, not just directing others. This role is fluent in industry-standard design and BIM software, skilled in producing high-quality renderings, and comfortable issuing coordinated, construction-ready drawing sets, including IFC files issued for construction. The Technical Interior Designer is able to design modern, market-ready interiors from unit finishes to Class A amenity spaces for multifamily and office projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop space plans, layouts, elevations, sections, and 3D models for interior design projects
  • Design modern apartment unit finishes and Class A amenity spaces (lobbies, fitness centers, co-working lounges, rooftop decks, clubrooms, etc.) for multifamily and office buildings
  • Produce full construction document sets: floor plans, RCPs, finish plans, millwork details, and specifications
  • Model and detail projects in Revit, maintaining accurate, coordinated BIM models
  • Draft and edit drawings in AutoCAD as needed for existing workflows or client requirements
  • Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations using rendering software to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders
  • Export and issue IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) files for construction and for interdisciplinary coordination with architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, MEP, and other consultant models to resolve clashes
  • Select and specify finishes, fixtures, furniture, and materials (FF&E)
  • Develop lighting design concepts and layouts, including fixture selection, lighting plans, and coordination with electrical engineers
  • Prepare presentation materials, mood boards, and renderings for client review
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and design reviews
  • Ensure drawings comply with relevant building codes and accessibility standards
  • Manage drawing revisions and maintain version control through all project phases

What You Bring:

  • Proven proficiency in Revit (BIM modeling, families, sheet sets, documentation)
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience producing and exporting IFC files issued for construction and BIM coordination workflows
  • Proficiency with rendering software (e.g., Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray, or similar) to produce photorealistic renderings for client presentations
  • Familiarity with at least one additional interior design/visualization tool (e.g., SketchUp, 3ds Max)
  • Demonstrated experience designing modern apartment finishes and Class A amenity spaces for multifamily and/or office projects
  • Understanding of construction documentation standards and detailing
  • Working knowledge of building codes, ADA/accessibility requirements, and material/finish specifications
  • Experience with lighting design, including layouts, fixture specification, and light plans
  • Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 6+ years of professional interior design experience
  • NCIDQ certification or progress toward it (preferred, adjust as needed)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both design sensibility and technical drawing quality

Salary Range:

$120,000-$140,000
