What this job involves:

As a Director, Facilities at JLL, reporting into the Regional Facilities leader, you will provide strategic support and technical guidance for facilities operations across healthcare properties in the Mid-Atlantic market (Maryland, DC, Virginia), ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and safety across complex facility systems. You'll advise on critical building infrastructure including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, medical gas systems, and building automation systems while supporting teams of skilled technicians and maintenance professionals. You'll serve as the primary technical advisor for facilities management teams and clients, providing strategic guidance on capital improvements, system upgrades, and long-term facility planning that enhances operational efficiency and patient care environments. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including facilities managers, clinical staff, and healthcare administrators to deliver integrated solutions.


Location: Must be based in the Mid-Atlantic market (Maryland, DC, Virginia). Role requires heavy travel within the market.


What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to facilities teams responsible for maintaining complex building and medical systems across single or multiple healthcare properties in your assigned portfolio
  • Advise on and support the development and implementation of comprehensive preventive maintenance programs, energy management strategies, and capital improvement plans to optimize facility performance and lifecycle costs
  • Guide emergency response procedures and support coordination with local authorities, contractors, and internal teams during critical incidents or system failures
  • Support annual operating budget planning for facilities operations including maintenance contracts, utility costs, and capital expenditure planning with detailed financial reporting
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and system assessments to identify improvement opportunities, code compliance issues, and potential safety hazards
  • Advise on vendor selection and coordinate with contractors and service providers to ensure quality delivery of specialized maintenance services and major system installations or upgrades
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for facility owners, healthcare administrators, and senior management regarding facility performance, sustainability metrics, and recommended improvements
  • Advise on compliance with all applicable healthcare facility codes, Joint Commission standards, environmental regulations, OSHA safety standards, and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Mentor and support facilities staff and technicians while fostering a culture of safety, continuous learning, and operational excellence across the facilities team

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of healthcare facilities operations experience or experience in other regulated industries such as Life Sciences
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare facility codes, life safety systems, Joint Commission standards, environmental regulations, and OSHA compliance requirements
  • Strong advisory and stakeholder engagement skills with experience supporting technical staff and coordinating with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Advanced proficiency in building automation systems, energy management software, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with proven track record of solving complex technical challenges and emergency response situations
  • Strong budget analysis and financial advisory skills with experience supporting operational cost control and capital expenditure planning

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of progressive facilities leadership experience in healthcare facilities
  • Professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), LEED AP, CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager), or similar certifications
  • Experience with smart building technologies, IoT systems, and advanced building analytics platforms for predictive maintenance and performance optimization
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems, carbon reduction strategies, and ESG reporting requirements for healthcare portfolios
  • Previous experience supporting facilities operations for large-scale healthcare properties or complex multi-building campuses
  • Advanced project management capabilities with experience supporting and leading major capital improvement projects and system modernization initiatives

Estimated compensation for this position:

160,000.00 - 190,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
