Job Summary:

This will provide administrative direction in the laboratory section assigned. Plan, organize, schedule, and oversee the Chemistry department's activities under the direction of the Laboratory Director to optimize staff, equipment, and material use while staying within financial constraints and upholding technical and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the department's operations, assign and distribute tasks, set priorities, and plan out non-routine processes.
  • Perform supervisory functions for their assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques. Re-evaluate methodology, make recommended changes and assists in test interpretation.
  • Perform advanced or specialized tests and other relevant lab procedures. Implement suggested modifications, and support test interpretation.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as needed.
  • Complies with all CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Perform Root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plan.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or any related field from an accredited institution.
  • 7+ years of experience in the Clinical Laboratory field- experience in Chemistry section is mandatory.
  • Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license is required.
  • Experience performing high-complexity testing under CLIA guidelines. ?
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards.
  • Experience handling audits, inspections, and maintaining accreditation standards.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes, proficiency testing, and monitoring of lab performance metrics.
