Job description

Overview

Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537-bed teaching hospital and member of Catholic Health. Featuring a Level II Trauma Center and nearly 900 physicians, we care for over 100,000 patients annually on Long Island's South Shore, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning.

ResponsibilitiesWatch Engineer or FiremanSunday 7am-3PM Sunday and Monday 11PM-7AM, Friday and Saturday 3PM-11PM, off Tuesday-ThursdayResponsibilities
  • Boiler Operations: Tend boilers to maintain correct pressure and safe water levels; clean and recondition them for inspections.

  • Routine Maintenance: Clean/change fuel oil strainers, replace packing glands on leaking valves, and lubricate power house equipment.

  • System Testing: Run the diesel generator and air compressor weekly to ensure optimal operating conditions.

  • Monitoring & Records: Take hourly readings on steam, oil, water, air, and AC equipment; maintain basic boiler room logs.

  • Chemical Treatment: Safely add required chemicals to boilers and fuel oil tanks.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working with high-pressure steam boilers required.

  • License: Valid New York State (NYS) Driver's License required.

Pay RangeUSD $27.00 - USD $34.00 /Hr.Qualifications

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
