Chemical Process Engineer - Design Quality & Review (Advanced Manufacturing)
We're seeking an experienced Chemical Process Engineer in Pittsburgh with a strong focus on technical quality, design review, and engineering oversight. You'll review process designs, validate calculations, and ensure alignment with scope, budget, and schedule across a multi-discipline, globally distributed team. Minimum 20 hours/week, flexible hours to support global collaboration. No visa sponsorship available.
Pay: $72.00- $85.00 per hour DOE
Responsibilities:
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design for advanced manufacturing facilities
  • Apply best practices and industry knowledge to solve complex engineering problems
  • Validate calculations, specifications, and design assumptions for consistency and defensibility
  • Perform quality reviews on designs completed by others
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on engineering applications and principles
  • Champion continuous improvement and attention to detail across projects

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
  • 8+ years of chemical process engineering experience in facilities design (advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or oil & gas)
  • At least 1 year of semiconductor experience
  • Available minimum 20 hours/week, with flexibility for a globally distributed team

Preferred:
  • Experience with semiconductor facilities systems
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Navisworks, or similar design software
  • Familiarity with construction deliverables (P&IDs, detail sheets, calculations)
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to spot discrepancies, errors, or gaps
  • Coaching mindset and strong verbal/written communication
  • Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary, multi-region teams
