Job Description

Mixer I is the entry-level mixer position. Employees in this role are responsible for learning mixing processes, equipment operation, product specifications, safety requirements, and documentation procedures while progressing through established qualification requirements. 

Qualified mixer candidates must be able to perform a variety of jobs, tasks, or duties as required; and must be able to work their bid shift, overtime, and weekends as required. 

The tasks required, but not limited to, are general housekeeping, rework, preparing packaging, package product, food manufacturing, and other duties as assigned by supervision. Following mix instructions and provide clear concise documentation of production work. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. Recipe construction/adjustment and understanding 
  2. Knowledge of process flow and tracing flow and lines throughout the process. 
  3. Understanding basic mix variations including salt content, moisture and color. 
  4. Operate and tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of food products such as edible oils, dressings, margarines, spreads, shortenings, cooking Sherries, vinegars, cooking wines, etc. 
  5. Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to correctly adjust the addition of raw materials, mixing temperatures, mixing speeds, etc. to maintain product quality, and ensure safe and efficient operation. 
  6. Operation of CIP skids in addition to breakdown and cleaning of line components. 
  7. Knowledge of chemical handling procedures including PPE required. 
  8. Perform a variety of jobs, tasks, or duties as required; and must be able to work their bid shift, overtime, and weekends as required. 
  9. Fill out appropriate documentation regarding product movements, batch sheets, and ingredients addition 
  10. Basic understanding of pumps, valves, and how to change filters. 
  11. Successfully pass qualification test and must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in confined spaces, and work with heights. 
  12. Successfully complete training and qualification requirements for assigned mixer systems. 
  13. Demonstrate the ability to safely operate assigned equipment under the guidance of qualified personnel. 
  14. Learn and apply product specifications, process controls, quality standards, and food safety requirements. 
  15. Develop proficiency in equipment setup, operation, cleaning, and documentation procedures. 
Qualifications

Education:Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. 

Related Experience: Mixing machine operation, blending, food industry, or manufacturing experience preferred but not required.  

Qualification Requirement: Must successfully complete designated training and qualification requirements for assigned mixer systems. 

Equipment/Software Skills: Basic computer knowledge - data entry

Additional Information

Physical: Must be able to walk throughout the plant, to include walking and climbing up/downstairs and ladders (portable, fixed).  Must have be ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally is required. 

Sensory: Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.) 

Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.
