The team seeks a full-time Lead Network Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of IT systems in Classified lab environment. This is a role best suited for someone who has prior experience working as a classified Network Engineer. This is an on-premises position on our McLean, VA campus. Roles and Responsibilities: * MITRE's Classified Infrastructure Services team (Special Programs) is looking for a Lead Network Engineer role that will be supporting many classified infrastructures as well as standalone environments. * This role will require knowledge of implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 Security Controls / RMF compliance in each environment along with additional security lockdowns if required and ensure the accreditation is enforced and in compliance in all environments. * Provide guidance for hardware/software purchases when requested. * Work with project leads to ensure their environment compliant and meeting the requirements of the end-users.
* The successful candidate will, in addition to providing top level technical support and vision, provide task leadership for a small team that supports both the infrastructures and manages end user issues. Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar tools
* Experience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automation
* Experience with VMware vCenter/vSphere, and VDI implementations using VMware Horizon
* Experience with Cisco and Juniper Network Switches and devices
* Experience with building, managing and patching Palo Alto firewalls.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communications skills
* Demonstrated ability to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where needed
* Ability to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performance
* Deploy all hardware/software configurations following established standards in a auditable method.
* Active a DoD TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI Poly within a year.
* Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance * This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on site.
