Requirements:

Summary of Functions:

Lead effective daily operations and develop highly skilled packaging plant operations. Support the departmental goal of efficiency, high yields, quality production and equipment operations.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage frontline packaging employees and functional leads by establishing daily objectives and performance expectations.
  • Lead daily operations of high-speed automated packaging lines, ensuring production schedules are met safely and efficiently.
  • Responsibility for frontline employees including hiring, reviews, rewards, and discipline
  • Support and lead packaging line changeovers while minimizing downtime and product loss.
  • Manage daily process including but not limited to:
  • Establish Operations Procedures (SOPs)
  • Establish workload requirements, work schedules and plan task level assignments
  • Establish training needs and certifications requirements
  • Ensure safe operation
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, downtime, throughput, labor efficiency, yields, quality defects, and waste reduction to drive performance.
  • Maintain composure in stressful situations, making sound decisions and communicating with management team as needed
  • Motivate employees to higher achievements
  • Supporting the development of a process improvement program
  • Recognize trends/indicators and reacts proactively to address potential problems
  • Ensure employees maintain industry guidelines for GMP
  • Proficiency in English required with Spanish language skills preferred
  • Computer proficient


Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Plant, State, and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP and SQF regulations
  • Comply with GMP's in the plant
  • Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality systems

Organizational Relationships:

Position reports to the Packaging Plant Manager. Direct reports for this position include: Frontline departmental employees


Qualifications:

  • Minimum A.A. with B.S. or B.A. preferred
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of packaging equipment.
  • Experience working in food manufacturing company, preferably dairy operations or related
  • Proven background with safety program and GMP
  • willingness to work non-traditional hours as required
  • Food, CPG, or USDA/FDA environments
