Responsible to: Transportation Supervisor

Job Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation

Qualifications: Appropriate state of Ohio certification/license, State of Ohio Class B commercial driver's license with S and P endorsements, high school diploma or equivalent required, required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds daily. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board Of Education may find appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Observes all mandatory safety regulations, including daily fuel log and pre-trip prior leaving school grounds, and obeys all traffic laws.

2. Notifies mechanic immediately in case of mechanical failure.

3. Maintains an up-to-date seating chart as required by law.

4. Reports all accidents and follows the Accident Protocol. The accident report must be completed and submitted to the Transportation Supervisor immediately upon return to the transportation department.

5. Maintains discipline when students are on bus.

6. Reports discipline problems to appropriate building principal/Transportation Supervisor.

7. Keeps assigned bus clean daily on the interior. The exterior should be washed monthly as weather permits. Bus must be cleaned thoroughly on the last day of school.

8. Keeps to assigned schedule.

9. Transports only authorized students, including any prearranged changes, and discharges students only at authorized stops. Drivers may need to transport additional students on an emergency basis.

10. Exercises responsible judgment at all times.

11. Follows all regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.

12. Notifies the Transportation Supervisor when lateness or absence from work is necessary.

13. Completes required daily/monthly reports and submits them to the Transportation Supervisor.

14. Promotes a cooperative and professional attitude among all colleagues.

15. Performs such other duties as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.

16. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.

17. Maintains a positive and courteous attitude when dealing with parents and other community members.

18. Participates in in-service training programs as required by law.

19. After an accident, Driver must be drug/alcohol tested if the accident results in $1000 or more in damage.
