Nurse Practitioner – Anesthesiology / Pre-Anesthesia Testing | LocumsDescription

We are seeking a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner / APP for an urgent, full-time locums opportunity in Pre-Anesthesia Testing in Clifton Springs, New York.

This assignment is an excellent opportunity for an APP seeking a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with no call and no weekend requirements. The position is focused on outpatient pre-operative assessment, optimization, chart review, data collection, and coordination of care. Patients are being evaluated for upcoming surgeries and are not having surgery on the same day as their pre-operative visit.

About the facility

The practice is an acute-care hospital setting with an ambulatory, office-type environment dedicated to pre-operative and pre-anesthesia assessment.

The APP will work closely with the Surgery and Anesthesia teams and evaluate patients preparing for procedures in:

  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • Urology

The clinical environment is primarily focused on chart review, patient assessment, data collection, optimization, and coordination of care. No procedure-based skills are required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative evaluations.
  • Assess and optimize patients before upcoming surgical procedures.
  • Review H&Ps and relevant patient information.
  • Perform detailed chart reviews.
  • Review and utilize optimization protocols and resources available within the facility's existing system.
  • Collect necessary clinical and patient data.
  • Identify patients requiring additional evaluation or optimization.
  • Make appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Coordinate care with the Surgery and Anesthesia teams.
  • Document patient assessments and care in Epic.
  • Evaluate approximately 8–9 patients per day.
  • Provide care in an outpatient, pre-operative assessment setting.
  • Support patients preparing for orthopedic, general surgery, and urology procedures.
  • No same-day surgical procedures are involved.
  • No procedure-based clinical skills are required.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified – required.
  • Active New York State license in hand – required.
  • Active BLS certification – required.
  • BLS certification must be through AHA or RQI.
  • Epic experience – required.
  • APP experience appropriate for a pre-operative or pre-anesthesia setting.
  • Current and complete work history is required.
  • Work history must not contain gaps of 30+ days.
  • Residents and fellows cannot be accepted.
  • No specific years of experience are otherwise listed.
  • No specific DEA or CSR requirement is listed.
  • No teaching-hospital or trauma-level experience is required/listed.
  • Agency must pay the applicable APP application fee.
  • If malpractice history is involved, whether dismissed or not, a physician statement is required.
