What is a charity worker?

Charity workers are professionals or volunteers who work for nonprofit organizations or charitable causes to support individuals, communities, or issues in need. Their roles can range from fundraising and organizing events to providing direct support and advocacy for beneficiaries. Charity workers may operate locally, nationally, or internationally, depending on the organization's mission. They play a crucial role in raising awareness, mobilizing resources, and delivering services that make a positive impact on society.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a charity worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Charity Worker, you need a solid understanding of fundraising principles, project management, and community engagement, often supported by relevant degrees or volunteering experience. Familiarity with donor management databases, social media platforms, and fundraising tools is typically required. Excellent communication, empathy, and adaptability help you build relationships and respond to diverse community needs. These skills and qualities are essential for effectively advancing the charity's mission and maximizing its positive impact.

What are some common challenges charity workers face when balancing administrative tasks with direct community engagement?

Charity workers often need to juggle administrative responsibilities, such as reporting, fundraising, and event planning, with hands-on work in the community. This can be challenging, as both aspects are crucial for organizational success and personal job satisfaction. Effective time management, clear communication with team members, and setting realistic priorities help charity workers maintain this balance. Many organizations foster a collaborative environment, encouraging staff to share workloads and regularly check in on progress to ensure neither area is neglected.

Job description

Charity Fundraiser — Paid Training | Weekly Pay

Gold Standard Promotions | Las Vegas, NV | Full-Time | W-2 | In Person

Turn Conversations Into Impact

Are you outgoing, competitive, and comfortable talking to people?

Gold Standard Promotions is hiring Charity Fundraisers to represent nationally recognized nonprofit organizations through live, face-to-face fundraising campaigns throughout the Las Vegas area.

This isn't a desk job or call center.

You'll work at established retail and event locations, speak directly with members of the public, educate them about the nonprofit organization you're representing, and help interested individuals become ongoing supporters.

No previous fundraising experience is required. We provide paid, hands-on training.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

As a Charity Fundraiser, you'll:

  • Represent nationally recognized nonprofit organizations at scheduled retail and event locations
  • Approach and engage members of the public in face-to-face conversations
  • Educate potential supporters about the nonprofit's mission, programs, and impact
  • Answer questions and communicate campaign information accurately
  • Enroll individuals who choose to become recurring donors
  • Follow established campaign and donor enrollment procedures
  • Track your individual fundraising results
  • Participate in daily campaign training and coaching
  • Work alongside your team to achieve individual and campaign goals
  • Represent our nonprofit partners with professionalism and integrity

This is an active, public-facing position. You'll spend your workday on your feet, meeting new people and starting conversations.

Compensation

We believe strong performance should be rewarded.

This position includes:

  • Daily base fee
  • Uncapped commission based on completed donor acquisitions
  • Performance bonuses
  • Weekly pay
  • Typical first-year earnings: $35,000–$55,000

Total compensation varies based on individual fundraising performance and completed donor acquisitions.

No Experience? We'll Train You.

Fundraising experience is helpful—but it isn't required.

Every new team member receives paid, hands-on training covering:

  • Nonprofit campaign knowledge
  • Face-to-face fundraising
  • Public engagement
  • Donor acquisition and enrollment
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Objection handling
  • Goal setting and performance tracking
  • Professional development

You'll learn by working alongside experienced team members before being expected to perform independently.

Who Does Well Here?

We've found that successful fundraisers often come from backgrounds such as:

  • Hospitality and restaurants
  • Retail and customer service
  • Athletics
  • Sales
  • Promotions and events
  • Fundraising and nonprofit work
  • Campus organizations

Recent graduates and candidates beginning their professional careers are encouraged to apply.

More important than your previous job title is your ability to communicate, learn, stay consistent, and connect with people.

You may be a strong fit if you're:

  • Outgoing and comfortable meeting new people
  • Competitive and motivated by measurable goals
  • Coachable and receptive to feedback
  • Professional and dependable
  • Positive and solution-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated by both individual and team performance

Career Development

For employees interested in taking on greater responsibility, Gold Standard Promotions provides opportunities for internal advancement.

Our career path includes:

Charity Fundraiser → Team Leader → Assistant Manager → Managing Director

Employees who demonstrate consistent performance, professionalism, reliability, and leadership ability may receive additional training in:

  • New-hire training and coaching
  • Team leadership
  • Event coordination
  • Campaign performance
  • Interviewing and onboarding
  • Day-to-day campaign operations

Advancement is based on demonstrated job performance, leadership ability, available positions, and business needs.

Employees are paid for their work and fundraising performance—not for recruiting friends, family members, or other individuals into the company.

What We Offer

  • Full-time W-2 employment
  • Paid training
  • Weekly pay
  • Uncapped commission
  • Performance bonuses
  • Daily coaching and professional development
  • Leadership development for qualified employees
  • Internal advancement opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance eligibility after 30 days
  • Travel opportunities for qualifying conferences and company events
  • Competitive, team-oriented work environment

Requirements

  • Full-time availability
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to commute to Las Vegas, NV 89119
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with members of the public
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Reliable attendance
  • Willingness to learn and receive coaching
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Previous sales, retail, hospitality, customer service, event, promotional, or fundraising experience is a plus, but not required.

Important: What This Position Is — And Isn't

We want applicants to know exactly what they're applying for.

This is a full-time, W-2, face-to-face fundraising position representing nonprofit organizations at established retail and event locations.

This position is NOT:

  • Remote
  • Door-to-door sales
  • Call-center work
  • An independent contractor position
  • Commission-only
  • Compensation based on recruiting other employees

Why Gold Standard Promotions?

Our job is to give great causes a great representation.

We connect nonprofit organizations with people in the community through real, face-to-face conversations. For our fundraisers, that means developing practical skills in communication, fundraising, sales, and leadership while doing work connected to meaningful causes.

We're looking for people who want to get better, perform at a high level, and be part of a team that takes its work seriously without taking itself too seriously.

If you're confident enough to start a conversation, coachable enough to keep improving, and competitive enough to chase a goal, we want to meet you.
