Job description

Position OverviewThe Property Management Specialist I is responsible for managing landlord-related lease obligations from lease commencement through termination for a portfolio of 900+ retail locations. Acting as the primary liaison between Burlington stores, Field Support, landlords, property management companies, and internal business partners, this role ensures lease compliance and that each property is maintained in accordance with Burlington's brand standards.
This position oversees landlord responsibilities for maintenance, repairs, and day-to-day property operations as outlined in lease agreements, utilizing facilities management software to track and resolve issues. The Property Management Specialist I fosters strong landlord-tenant relationships while supporting store operations and ensuring timely resolution of property-related concerns.
The role partners closely with cross-functional teams, including Facilities, Lease Administration, Real Estate, Legal, Energy, Sustainability, Asset Protection, and external landlords and property management companies to protect Burlington's real estate assets and deliver a positive store experience.A Day in the Life

Property Management - Lease Compliance

  • Review, prioritize and initiate in-coming work orders in Service Channel for assigned store locations, and follow up with Landlord as required. Aid Construction and Facilities on all day-to-day critical path milestones for store related projects.
  • Update Service Channel work order notes to include all details and communication to resolve issues. Communicate with key stakeholders, including field and corporate leadership as required.
  • Utilize weekly reporting to address open issues and aging work orders. Consistently maintaining a current work order status. Provide project follow-up, setting clear expectations and establishing deadlines.
  • Provide support to store & field management to ensure work is completed as required; partnering with other departments and escalating issues as needed.
  • Interpret, administer, and enforce lease covenants and provisions to support our stores and ensure Landlord / Tenant compliance.
  • Work with the Legal Department to resolve Landlord /Contractor and insurance claims as required.
  • Maintain various project documents in Teams, Lucernex & Smartsheet.
  • Schedule & facilitate New Store Welcome Landlord calls, and recap as required.

Property Management - Store Tasks and Assignments

  • Provide support for New Store Initiatives, including research, follow-up, and store scheduling.
  • Research open store Billbacks and Chargebacks. Communicate and confirm Billback to Landlord.
  • Provide updates to AMC, Violations, CROPS and other project timelines and deadlines as required.
  • Assist and maintain strong Tenant / Landlord relations while assuring Burlington's standards are met and maintaining communications with Tenants to improve cooperation and performance.
  • Work with the PMS II & Legal Department to resolve Landlord /Contractor and insurance claims as required
  • Special Projects and assignments as needed.
  • Respond to emergency after-hours calls via phone/computer as required.
You'll Come With
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate retail property management, store facilities, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of retail lease agreements and landlord/tenant responsibilities.
  • Understanding of commercial building systems and facility operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across internal and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with ServiceChannel, Lucernex, or similar facilities/property management software is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours and weekend on-call rotation as needed.
