The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
The Sales Executive Team is dedicated to navigating and managing a high performing sales culture in-person and/or virtually which contributes to the overall success of the Select business. The team executes on industry-leading sales strategies aligned with business objectives, builds effective relationships with customers, distribution partners and fellow employees, and creates tactical sales plans for profitable growth through extensive product knowledge and state of the art sales and influencing tactics. The team also uses digitally advanced strategies to move the business forward, leads the relationships with our aggregator/networking groups, and partners with the agent to imbed into higher producing revenue streams. As Sales Director, Select, you will lead a team of sales professionals within your agency assignments/territories to optimize growth within defined new business, retention and profitability goals and deliver success within Travelers' framework of Corporate values. You will have primary responsibility for sales strategy and business development within your agency assignments or territories and will act as a brand ambassador to sell the Travelers value proposition to distribution partners. You will be out in the field attending meetings and building relationships with agents who are in need of support while also supporting the SE and Sr SEs who are assigned to the territory. This position is an outside sales position where assigned distribution relationships within the geographic territory tend to be best served through an in-person sales strategy.What Will You Do?
  • Select, train and manage a team of Sales Executives to develop long-term and short-term plans aligned with business objectives, achieve and exceed sales targets, and operate within Travelers' Vision and Values.
  • Coordinate sales planning and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Create an environment that fosters high performance, continuous learning, and proactive initative.
  • Oversee and influence a team responsible for developing and implementing advanced sales strategies to expand and manage territory, with the objective of driving profitable growth.
  • Own assigned territory, including development of business strategy, leveraging performance metrics to create annual plans and managing territorial performance.
  • Conduct high-level agency diagnostics to identify growth opportunities, facilitate strategic appointments, and nurture long-term relationships.
  • Proactively manage measures of point-of-sale success, sales plan effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the prospecting, onboarding and establishment of performance goals for new agencies, while providing training and support.
  • Oversee in-person office visits to strengthen key partnerships.
  • Influence key agency partners through exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as, Product, Underwriting, and Operations to ensure alignment of sales strategies with broader business objectives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build partnerships with other business groups to identify and initiate multiple product solutions at the account level.
  • Leverage expertise in competitor products and market trends to enhance organizational learning and identify opportunities, serving as a significant resource for competitive intelligence and distribution channel insights in the region.
  • Represent region or territory at agency council meetings and supports corporate agency management in handling strategic distribution relationships with key brokers and cross-enterprise resources.
  • Utilize thorough knowledge of Travelers' systems, platforms, and sophisticated data and analytics to guide strategic sales decisions, measure performance metrics and identify opportunities for additional products and services to maintain a balanced portfolio.
  • Analyze market, distribution channel and product offerings, identify gaps and strategic opportunities, and work with business partners to develop plan to increase market share and drive profitable growth.
  • Ensure team leverages AI technologies to optimize industry processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation, while continuously learning and adapting to emerging AI trends and tools.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business or related field.
  • Eight or more years of insurance marketing and sales or related experience in managing and growing a high-value book of business, developing and executing successful sales strategies, conducting comprehensive agency diagnostics, and utilizing advanced data and analytics proficiently.
  • Four or more years of experience in leadership and management of other employees.
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) (or willingness to pursue).
  • Expert knowledge of Travelers products and general Property & Casualty marketplace.
  • Exceptional influencing, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to collaboratively build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Advanced skills in agency appointment.
  • Ability to set clear direction by defining goals and priorities and energize others to meet these goals in a timely manner.
  • Expert organizational skills to manage complex tasks and priorities.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving sales targets and business objectives.
What is a Must Have?
  • Five years of professional sales experience within the Insurance Industry.
  • Two or more years of experience in leadership and management of other employees.
  • Must live in the territory that they manage and have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
