The Head of Marketing and Business Development is responsible for developing, executing and delivering the marketing plan objectives and pricing strategies for existing and new Product Groups within the Food Packaging BU, leading to business growth and creating sustainable competitive advantage for Ahlstrom. The Head of Marketing and Business Development is also responsible for leading the development of business cases to define new product innovation needs consistent with market needs and trends. This is considered a key role for strengthening the Ahlstrom Brand and capabilities in the marketplace. This position collaborates with several internal cross-functional teams as well as externally with converter customers, CPG's, and channel partners to effectively deliver business unit objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor, analyze and interpret customer and competitive landscape and extract key insights in support of developing marketing plans, pricing strategies and Business Unit strategy development
  • Manage and optimize pricing to drive maximum profitability of the complete product portfolio including existing business, new Opportunities, customer requests for proposals and market price increases
  • Manage the CPG team to drive "pull" demand for Ahlstrom's capabilities, products and services
  • Establish direct relationships with peer contacts within the customer base to gain relevant details about customer business growth strategies in order to align Ahlstrom with their goals and objectives
  • Active participation in industry and professional organizations to stay current with market trends and dynamics; positioning Ahlstrom as a leader in our business segments
  • Monitor and communicate details of our Opportunity Pipeline to assure we are on-track to achieve business growth targets
  • Recommend and implement pricing strategies to support product category growth objectives
  • Identify attractive new product categories as well as expansion opportunities in existing categories
  • Understand competitors' approach to the market along with their product portfolio and performance within the market
  • Identify new offerings beyond product that bring value to our customers

Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing or a related field; MBA preferred
    • 10 years of applicable marketing, market management, pricing, or product management experience
    • Food packaging experience highly desirable
    • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding expectations
    • Strong business, financial acumen and communication skills
    • Demonstrated strategy development and execution skills
    • Strong verbal, listening and interpersonal communication skills
    • Proficient with MS Office, CRM software and processes
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
