PRODUCTION CONTROL MANAGER
About us:
At REDCOM, our mission is to design the most reliable and innovative communications solutions for customers that span all branches of the U.S. military, government agencies, public safety organizations, and telecom service providers. After 45 years in business, we are still in growth mode. We’re looking for a motivated, experienced leader to join our Manufacturing team as the Production Control Manager.
Opportunity at a glance:
Reporting into the VP of Manufacturing / General Manager, in this position you’ll be our day-to-day production supervisor for both employees and job projects out on the floor.
Much of your time will be spent focused on the production workflow, scheduling, and monitoring of activities across functions. Support for front-line production employees, including training and coaching, will be an essential part of success in this role. You will be an influential member of the leadership team and involved in many day-to-day decisions as well as strategic ones.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Under direction, is responsible for planning workflow to all departments, scheduling, and monitoring shipping and stores. Must be able to coordinate activities of production planning and control with sales, engineering, and purchasing as required to meet both production schedules and customer demand.
  • Monitors all sales orders and places and directs through subordinates their scheduling as well as distribution of work in the factory.
  • Plans and directs work of subordinates. Sets goals and monitors performance and attendance. Coordinates efforts of office and stockroom personnel.
  • Prepares or causes to be prepared all reports and paperwork associated with specific production planning and control activities such as monthly reports, production schedules, and material requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality team to support and comply with the Quality Management System.
  • Reports problems such as inadequate supplies of raw materials, scheduling and rescheduling of production schedule to meet rush sales orders not already in production, etc. to proper person and follows through to make sure problem is resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Provides assistance to group personnel and other company departments such as training and use of MRP computer system, what components are needed for production, etc.
  • Coordinates weekly scheduling meetings to keep all necessary personnel advised of any production scheduling problems and how they are being resolved.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or as required.
KNOWLEDGE amp; SKILLS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO FULFILL THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to multitask and interface effectively across all levels of the organization in order to meet the daily demands of internal and external customers
  • Attention to detail, excellent organization skills, self-motivated, ability to handle high-volume/high-mix workload, and changing priorities in a fast-paced department

KNOWLEDGE amp; SKILLS THAT ARE PREFERRED TO FULFILL THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business plus 5-7 years experience in electronic manufacturing, 2 years of which should be in a production control area with database and spreadsheet experience OR attainment of the same level of advanced knowledge through a combination of intellectual instruction (e.g., Industry recognized manufacturing certification OR related university or military program of study) and at least 4 years of directly related work experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities along with time management and organization skills
OTHER DUTIES:
Complete special projects and perform other duties as necessary.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
REDCOM is quite unique in that all of our engineering, manufacturing, sales, support, and marketing teams are based out of our headquarters in Victor, NY. The manufacturing plant operates primarily M-F, days; however there are times where evenings and Saturday work may be required to meet customer deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to lift light to moderately heavy objects, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting or carrying of objects up to and over 50 pounds. Physically able to move around various factory work stations.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
  • 7-9 direct reports, but will be required to interact with all areas of the business unit as well as REDCOM employees.
