POSITION SUMMARY: Act as a chairside assistant to dental provider and assist with patient relationships including instruction, education and optimum patient flow. Work with front desk staff with scheduling patient appointments.
Full-time: 30 hours/week
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with the treatment of patients as required by the dentist and dental students and within state guidelines limiting functions of dental auxiliaries.
- Performs appropriate sterilization procedures. Ensures the clean and orderly presentation of all clinic equipment.
- Maintains dental records, correspondence, oral health surveys, plaque indexes and other data in orderly and retrievable condition.
- Logs entries in Dentrix as required. Process and mounts digital x-rays.
- Works as member of dental team, assisting other assistants when needed.
- Assists in orienting new staff to dental space. Mentors dental assistant students.
- Assists with portable dentistry program as needed.
- Maintain the spirit of team work in the effort to provide a caring respectful environment for the patient, families and clinic staff.
- Responsible for performing other duties as assigned. Which include and are not limited to, front desk tasks, scaling, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must be able to deal effectively with all levels of staff and public, particularly a pediatric
population. Experienced as a chair side assistant with knowledge of patient scheduling, equipment maintenance and records management. Certification in coronal polishing and sealant placement preferred. Comfortable utilizing nitrous oxide.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school degree and Certification as Dental Assistant or Dental Assisting experience. Bi-Lingual in Spanish.
