Today, headquartered in Westland, we proudly serve independent grocers across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. We are dedicated to delivering quality brands, competitive pricing, and outstanding service.

Position Summary

As a National Chain Sales Representative at D&B Grocers, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, providing excellent customer service, and strengthening long-term customer relationships. You will increase business by selling additional products, programs, and promotional opportunities to retailers within your assigned territory. Designated routes are within the Oakland/Macomb/Wayne County areas.

***This role offers the opportunity to earn $60,000 – $65,000 annually, with actual earnings dependent on individual sales performance. ***


Sales Representative Job Functions

  • Meet with store-level management to discuss sales opportunities, promotions, and new products.

  • Write accurate weekly orders, ensuring proper inventory levels and minimizing out-of-stocks.

  • Sell in incremental displays, new items, and additional points of distribution.

  • Provide product knowledge and updates on new innovations in our brand portfolio.

  • Conduct store-level business reviews to highlight sales performance, profitability, and opportunities.

  • Monitor competitive products and pricing, and share insights with management.

  • Execute merchandising programs, including product rotation, shelf schematics, and quality control.

  • Work alongside Merchandisers to build displays and support in-store execution.

  • Communicate delivery schedules, order quantities, and service needs to store contacts.

  • Prepare and present sales proposals, including profit and margin considerations, to store managers.

  • Attend weekly sales meetings at the main office and vendor meetings as needed.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and strategies for success.

  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with store teams while representing D&B Grocers with a winning attitude.

  • Work scheduled shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.


Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the retail grocery sales environment and beverage industry.

  • Strong sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to analyze financial and customer data to support decision-making.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of experience within a related field
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient with using Apple iPad, Cell Phone, Microsoft Office Software
  • Driving Authorizations: Valid Driver's License, Valid Auto Insurance, Reliable Transportation

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift/carry products ranging from 1–50 lbs.

  • Ability to push/pull large quantities of product on pallets, carts, or hand trucks (100+ lbs.).

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods during store visits.

  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work in retail environments.
