CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to join our Highway & Rail Team in Columbia, SC, where you'll help deliver transportation solutions that connect communities and support economic vitality. From roadway improvements to rail infrastructure enhancements, you'll gain hands-on experience working on projects that shape how people travel and how goods reach their destinations.


  • Assist with the planning, design, and development of highway and rail transportation projects
  • Support senior engineers in preparing technical reports, design calculations, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates
  • Apply engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to develop transportation solutions that enhance mobility and safety
  • Participate in field visits and site assessments to gain hands-on experience and develop a deeper understanding of transportation design and construction practices

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • No experience required; however prior internships and/or relevant coursework are preferred
  • Strong theoretical foundation and familiarity with engineering software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative team
  • Participation in professional engineering society/organization preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification a plus
