What are CFA hiring positions?

CFA hiring positions refer to job opportunities that require or prefer candidates who have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. These roles are typically found in investment management, equity research, portfolio management, and financial analysis. Many employers seek CFA charterholders for their expertise in financial analysis, ethical standards, and demonstrated commitment to the finance profession. Common CFA hiring positions include financial analyst, portfolio manager, research analyst, and risk manager. Obtaining the CFA credential can significantly improve your chances of being hired for these competitive roles.

What types of projects or responsibilities can a new CFA charterholder expect when joining an investment firm?

As a newly hired CFA charterholder at an investment firm, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as conducting in-depth financial analysis, building and maintaining financial models, and supporting portfolio managers with investment research. You may also participate in client meetings, contribute to investment strategy discussions, and prepare reports or presentations for both internal teams and clients. The role often requires collaboration with other analysts, portfolio managers, and compliance professionals, providing exposure to various areas of the firm and opportunities for professional growth.

Job description

Lead the transformation of quality engineering in an AI-driven world. As Senior Manager, Quality Engineering, you'll set the vision for quality across multiple platform portfolios, build and develop exceptional engineering talent, and champion innovative approaches that elevate quality, automation, and delivery at scale. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide engineering practices, partner with senior leaders, and help define the future of quality at CFA Institute.
The Senior Manager builds and develops engineering and management talent, oversees a mix of full-time managers, engineers, and managed-service contractors, and is accountable for quality outcomes, automation strategy, and quality metrics across an expanded scope. The Senior Manager balances strategic ownership with technical credibility, partnering with senior engineering and product leadership to embed quality at scale.
This position may be based in approved jurisdictions in the United States and is eligible for flexible working arrangements including remote/hybrid. It reports to the Director, Quality Engineering.
What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end quality across multiple platform portfolios - automation, performance, accessibility, and AI quality testing.
  • Lead a team of QE managers, senior engineers, tech leads, and managed-service contractors; develop the next layer of QE leadership.
  • Establish practices, standards, and frameworks that scale beyond individual portfolios; drive consistency in test architecture, automation patterns, and AI quality governance.
  • Implement and enforce QE process standards: test planning, defect triage and SLAs, entry and exit criteria, end-to-end testing, release readiness, and reporting.
  • Own quality metrics across portfolios - defect escape rate, automation coverage, test execution efficiency, AI quality scores, release readiness - and report regularly to leadership.
  • Drive AI adoption across test design, script generation, defect triage, and exploratory testing; build a center of expertise on AI-led QE.
  • Champion the Playwright/TypeScript automation framework, intelligent test execution tooling, and the AI quality stack.
  • Partner with the Director, Quality Engineering on hiring, leveling, capability planning, and career development frameworks.
  • Identify and develop high-potential engineers into tech leads and managers; coach managers on people leadership readiness.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12+ years of experience in quality engineering, with 6+ years in people leadership, including experience managing managers.
  • Proven track record mentoring senior engineers, tech leads, and managers into expanded leadership roles.
  • Hands-on technical depth - ability to read a Playwright test, evaluate an automation framework, and review architectural decisions.
  • Experience leading multiple portfolios or programs simultaneously.
  • Direct experience with at least three of: intelligent test execution, performance engineering, accessibility testing, API mocking and contract testing, CI/CD integration.
  • Working knowledge of AI in QE - LLM-assisted test generation, AI model quality evaluation, prompt engineering, and AI quality scoring.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a mix of full-time engineers, managers, and managed-service contractors.
  • Hiring and team-building experience across diverse and globally distributed talent markets.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder mindset.
