Cfa Hiring information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), and why are they important?

To thrive as a CFA, you need deep knowledge of investment analysis, portfolio management, and financial reporting, typically supported by passing all three levels of the CFA exam and meeting professional experience requirements. Familiarity with financial modeling software, Bloomberg Terminal, and advanced Excel functions is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, ethical judgment, and effective communication set top candidates apart. These skills ensure sound investment decisions, regulatory compliance, and clear client interactions in the competitive finance industry.

What types of projects or responsibilities can a new CFA charterholder expect when joining an investment firm?

As a newly hired CFA charterholder at an investment firm, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as conducting in-depth financial analysis, building and maintaining financial models, and supporting portfolio managers with investment research. You may also participate in client meetings, contribute to investment strategy discussions, and prepare reports or presentations for both internal teams and clients. The role often requires collaboration with other analysts, portfolio managers, and compliance professionals, providing exposure to various areas of the firm and opportunities for professional growth.

What are CFA hiring positions?

CFA hiring positions refer to job opportunities that require or prefer candidates who have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. These roles are typically found in investment management, equity research, portfolio management, and financial analysis. Many employers seek CFA charterholders for their expertise in financial analysis, ethical standards, and demonstrated commitment to the finance profession. Common CFA hiring positions include financial analyst, portfolio manager, research analyst, and risk manager. Obtaining the CFA credential can significantly improve your chances of being hired for these competitive roles.

Job description

Location: London | New York or Charlottesville, VA | Hybrid

Are you someone who knows exactly who to bring together to create a high-impact industry conversation? Can you identify the themes shaping the investment profession and turn them into influential forums and communities? And do you have the credibility to engage senior stakeholders and position an organisation as a trusted voice in that space?

At CFA Institute, we are hiring a Senior Director, Industry Engagement & Platforms to build and lead a new global capability focused on professional communities, industry convening, and Society-enabled engagement. Reporting to the Head of Events / Audience Development, this role will design scalable engagement platforms that connect CFA Institute research, senior industry stakeholders, and targeted professional audiences across the global investment ecosystem. This is not an event logistics role; it is a strategic, externally facing leadership role focused on building influence, structure, and long-term member and industry value.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build a global strategy for professional communities and engagement platforms, creating scalable and repeatable models for industry engagement

  • Identify and convene senior stakeholders across the investment ecosystem, curating high-value forums, roundtables, and peer networks around key themes

  • Establish and grow targeted audience communities (e.g. private wealth, asset owners), ensuring relevance, quality, and influence

  • Own and scale the Institute-Society co-delivery model, defining standards, governance, and ways of working to enable consistent global execution

  • Develop strategic partnerships with CFA Societies, industry bodies, and leading organisations such as financial media and global institutions

  • Connect CFA Institute research with industry dialogue, creating feedback loops that inform future research and thought leadership

  • Define success metrics across audience reach, engagement quality, and portfolio performance, ensuring sustainable and measurable impact

  • Build and lead a new team from the ground up, starting with an initial Manager-level hire

What We're Looking For

Essential experience

  • Proven experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders (C-suite / CIO level) within the investment management industry or closely related ecosystems (e.g. financial media, professional services, or industry forums and networks)

  • Experience convening senior audiences through forums, roundtables, or professional networks, with a clear understanding of how to bring together the right people around relevant themes

  • Experience building or scaling professional communities, engagement platforms, or industry networks with defined audiences and purpose

  • Strong understanding of how to translate thought leadership or industry themes into compelling engagement opportunities

  • Experience developing structured external partnerships or delivery models (e.g. with associations, networks, or industry organisations)

  • Demonstrated ability to build or shape teams and operate effectively in a player-coach capacity

  • Strong commercial and strategic awareness, including the ability to define success metrics and sustainable engagement models

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the investment management industry and key market themes

  • Experience in financial journalism, industry platforms, or membership organisations

  • Existing network across asset owners, private wealth, or institutional investors

  • Familiarity with CFA Institute's mission and the broader investment ecosystem

Why Join Us

  • Build a new global capability from the ground up with direct impact on Strategy 2030

  • Shape how CFA Institute engages with the global investment profession at the highest level

  • Work with senior leaders, global stakeholders, and leading industry organisations

  • Gain exposure across research, membership, education, and external partnerships

  • Lead and grow a function with clear scope for expansion and long-term influence

In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position: Expected salary range: US $170,000-$210,000 / UK 120,000-135,000 per year.
