Job description

Clinical Faculty Associate (CFA) BYU/Public School Partnership Physical Science Teaching Programs Application is due by December 1, 2024 Submit the completed district application to your HR Office in your respective district by December 1st . Then complete the online application for BYU ( This will not be available until January 2025 , but we will send details on that process at a later date to those who have filled out the district application.) Both completed applications are required for consideration of this position. Application Procedure: Submit the following materials:
  • The district application (including three letters of recommendation and a current resume or vita)
  • The online application for BYU (not available until January 2025)
Beginning Date: Fall Semester 2025 Salary will be according to your step and lane in Nebo School District. QUALIFICATIONS Professional Experience
  • A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience with secondary students in Physics, Chemistry, Physical Science or Earth Space Science.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Currently employed within Alpine, Jordan, Nebo, Provo, or Wasatch School Districts.
Professionalism
  • An excellent history of positive collaboration with community, school, and university personnel.
  • Evidence of exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An understanding of current literature, trends, and issues teaching secondary physical sciences.
Partnership
  • An understanding of and commitment to the BYU/Public School Partnership (see "The Vision of the BYUPSP" document attached).
  • A commitment to the simultaneous renewal of public schools and teacher education.
Supervision
  • Capacity for teaching preservice physical science teachers.
  • Ability to evaluate science instruction and offer focused, constructive feedback.
  • A pattern of effective mentoring of BYU students in field settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching
  • Support teaching, introduction to teaching physical science, methods teaching physical science.
  • Mentor physical science interns and student teachers.
  • Other teaching supporting secondary physical science teachers.
Professionalism
  • Develop a personal professional development plan to be discussed with the department chair.
  • Participate in all university, department and any school partnership meetings as invited, including the University Conference Week held the week before the fall semester begins, as well as April graduation.
Partnership
  • Communicate program components and university expectations to school personnel, school administrators, and practicum students.
  • Build positive relationships with school personnel, university faculty members, and students.
Supervision
  • Mentor preservice physical science teachers as assigned.
  • Prepare and submit all evaluations and reports associated with that mentoring assignment.
OTHER SPECIFICS Term of Service
  • The appointment as a CFA is limited to two consecutive years.
  • The CFA completes a standard school district teaching contract (though the start and end dates are slightly adjusted to align with BYU start and end dates; CFAs are expected to work fall and winter semesters, and either spring or summer term)
Funding/Line Authority
  • Funding for the CFA position is provided jointly by the BYU/Public School Partnership and the school district. CFA checks are issued by the school district on the regular district salary schedule.
  • The CFA is employed by the BYU/Public School Partnership under the direction of the Department Chair.
