Cfa Internship information

What is a CFA internship?

A CFA Internship is a temporary, typically entry-level position designed for students or recent graduates pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Interns assist with financial analysis, investment research, and risk assessment while gaining hands-on experience in the finance industry. This role helps develop technical skills, industry knowledge, and networking opportunities that can be valuable for a finance career. Many CFA Internships are offered by investment firms, banks, or asset management companies.

What types of projects or responsibilities can I expect during a CFA internship?

As a CFA Intern, you can expect to work closely with senior analysts or portfolio managers, assisting with financial modeling, data analysis, and investment research. Typical responsibilities may include preparing reports, evaluating market trends, and supporting due diligence for potential investments. You may also participate in team meetings and presentations, gaining exposure to real-world investment decision-making processes. These experiences are designed to give you hands-on insight into the finance industry and help you develop skills relevant to a future full-time role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the CFA internship position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CFA Internship candidate, you generally need a strong understanding of financial concepts, quantitative analysis, and proficiency in Excel or financial modeling, often supported by progress toward the CFA designation or a related degree in finance or economics. Familiarity with Bloomberg terminals, financial databases, and investment research tools is highly beneficial. Attention to detail, strong communication, and an eagerness to learn are standout soft skills for this position. These skills enable interns to effectively support analytical tasks, contribute to investment research, and excel in a collaborative financial environment.

Is there any internships in CFA internship?

A CFA internship typically refers to an internship program offered by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute or related financial firms. These internships provide experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio management, often requiring candidates to have completed some level of CFA coursework or exams. They are competitive and usually available to students or recent graduates interested in finance careers.

2027 Summer Internship - Consultant Relations Group Analyst, US
Internship positions are located at PIMCO's Newport Beach, CA Headquarters.
Are you ready to jump-start your career in investment finance while making real impact? As a Consultant Relations Group Analyst intern, you will help support the relationships between PIMCO, investment consultants, and broader client-facing teams.
You're eligible to apply if you:
  • Are pursuing an undergraduate degree and will be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 - December 2027)

  • Must be able to begin full-time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 - August 2028

  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, at an accredited 4-year college or university

  • Are business proficient in English

See yourself as a Consultant Relations Group Analyst:
Are you excited about the world of investment finance and eager to learn how PIMCO partners with investment consultants? As a Consultant Relations Group Analyst intern, you'll work alongside Account Managers and the broader Consultant Relations Group to deliver timely, high-quality service to consultants by responding to requests and sharing information on PIMCO, its investment strategies, and its products. You'll gain exposure to performance data, market trends, investment strategy positioning, consultant-facing reporting, and the ways data, automation, and AI-enabled tools can improve workflows and generate insights. Throughout the summer, you'll build relationships across teams, strengthen your analytical and communication skills, and develop a strong foundation for a potential long-term career in consultant relations, client management, product strategy, or other client-facing roles.
What you'll do:
  • Analyze performance data, market trends, and investment strategies to support insights that can be communicated to consultants and clients

  • Conduct research on investment products and market conditions to help inform consultant relations strategy and presentations

  • Help prepare reports and updates for Account Managers that summarize PIMCO's investment performance, strategy changes, and market outlook

  • Stay informed about market developments and trends to provide timely insights that can be shared with consultants

  • Partner with teams across PIMCO to gather information and support a cohesive consultant relations approach

  • Manage multiple priorities with urgency, sound judgment, professionalism, and strong attention to detail

You'll thrive here as a CRG Analyst intern if you:
  • Have a strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and investment finance

  • Bring a client service mindset and a strong sense of urgency when responding to requests

  • Can gather, analyze, and discuss market trends and data clearly and professionally

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and build rapport with team members and consultants

  • Are collaborative, organized, adaptable, accountable, and attentive to detail

  • Take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced, professional environment

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and a demonstrated interest in using data, automation, and AI-enabled tools to solve problems and improve outcomes

  • Have taken finance or capital markets coursework, which is recommended but not required

Additional professional development note: In addition to client servicing responsibilities, many members of the Consultant Relations Group seek to participate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program through the CFA Institute.
The PIMCO Internship Experience:
  • The PIMCO Internship is a 10-week program that runs from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program

  • During Week 1, you'll participate in PIMCO Fundamentals Training, providing you with the skills, knowledge, and relationships that will prepare you for success

  • Alongside your colleagues, participate in PIMCO's Global Month of Volunteering, developed to heighten the impact of our employees' worldwide volunteer efforts

  • Join us for a variety of cross-divisional education, networking, and social events

  • Your supervisor, peer mentor, senior leaders, and team offer guidance and mentorship throughout the summer

  • You will build future-ready skills by using AI-powered tools from day one, supported by training that strengthens critical thinking, analytical capabilities, and professional judgment

  • You'll receive feedback at mid- and end-of-summer as part of a formal review process to keep you on the path to meeting your summer goals

  • As a PIMCO intern, you'll receive competitive compensation, along with a transition bonus to help with relocation to one of our office locations

  • Once you complete the assessment and one-way video interview, you will have a final round of live interviews via video conference. These interviews typically include both behavioral and technical questions
