About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized pediatric healthcare system in the Houston Medical Center is seeking an experienced Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join its Central Sterile Processing team. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who are passionate about patient safety and maintaining the highest standards in sterile processing.
This 13-week contract offers the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Process decontaminated surgical instruments and medical devices according to manufacturer instructions (IFUs), established priorities, and industry best practices.
- Receive instruments from the decontamination area and prepare them for inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution.
- Operate sterilization equipment and complete all sterilization processes accurately.
- Perform high-level disinfection of medical equipment.
- Monitor sterilizers and environmental controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including routine cleaning of workspaces, instrument rooms, and storage areas.
- Dispose of biohazard waste according to established procedures.
- Support additional sterile processing and instrument room responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification through HSPA or
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification through CBSPD
- Knowledge of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation and medical devices used throughout a hospital setting.
- Experience operating sterilization and sterile processing equipment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to infection prevention and patient safety.
